Hi, I'm Gillian and I'm a Sober Coach based in the UK.

Sober Living Life Coach for Women Sober Coach Scotland UK Alcohol Free Coach Stop Drinking

WHAT I DO.

I help high achieving women who are ready to stop using alcohol as a crutch for their overloaded life, to release what weighs them down and reclaim their energy and power.

MY WISH FOR YOU.

My wish for you, if you are questioning your relationship with alcohol, is to know that there is a path to break free from the alcohol trap, that doesn’t involve the shame and judgment our society  associates with someone labelled as a “problem drinker”.

WHO DO I HELP?

I combine my skills and training as a Life & Sober Coach *** to help women who are:

  • Taking the very first step on their sober journey and need practical tools and techniques to set themselves up for success and make today their last Day 1.  Think Mindset, Nutrition, Self-Love & Self-Care, Visualisation, Insights & Inspiration, Plan of Action.

  • Already on the path but are feeling wobbly and need support, accountability and connection with someone who understands them 100%, and help them refocus on their “Why" and set their feet firmly back on the sober path.

  • And when they are further along their path and need guidance and help with some issues that have come up since they stopped drinking.  Some subconscious issues that are most likely at the core of why they over-drank in the first place, but needed time to come to the surface.

And everywhere in between.

WHY AM I GOOD AT THIS? BECAUSE I GET IT!

In my late 40’s, I started to ask myself questions like,

  • “Am I drinking too much?”
  • “If I can’t moderate, does that mean I’m an alcoholic?”
  • “I’m doing all this stuff to keep me healthy through the week, why do I keep ruining all my hard work at the weekend?”
  • “Why do I end up drinking more, when I’ve promised myself to drink less?”
  • “I wonder what my life would be like without the booze?”

AT THE TIME I WAS TOO SCARED TO STOP, FOR MANY REASONS, LIKE:

  • Shame – there must be something wrong with me.
  • Fear of Judgment – everyone will think I’m an alcoholic.
  • Life would be boring – you’re no fun without a drink.
  • “Ok, when “that thing” happened to me, I had an excuse to drink, but why am I still drinking even though I’m NOT feeling so stressed/hurt/tired/lonely anymore?”
  • “According to AA, I’m going to have to struggle and fight each day to stay “dry” – yeah, that sounds like a lot of fun, right?”

IT'S ALL JUST BS!

BS (Belief Systems) like this kept me locked in the Alcohol Trap for years.

I didn't know the truth about what alcohol really is and how it affects us, and then how to change the BS I’d been carrying with me all those years, so I could finally be free from the trap.

I had many failed attempts at stopping.  Each time I failed I felt even more helpless and worthless.

Fast forward to 2020 and like you, life got turned upside down.   I noticed that yet again I was drinking more to help switch off from the drama and stress in life.

WHEN I READ THIS STATISTIC:

The Scottish Health Survey 2018 (revised in 2020), shows that among women, the highest prevalence of hazardous or harmful drinking was found among those within the 45 – 54 age group.

I knew why this was the case.  Women in this age group have often been putting themselves at the bottom of the priority list for years, taking care of everyone else before themselves and now find themselves a bit lost, scared of what their future looks like.

These are women who have a lot going on, overloaded lives, business owners, mothers, wives & partners, healers, doctors and therapists!

  • Alcohol can seem like the easiest way to de-stress, and it becomes the only thing that gets them through the day.
  • Slowly it begins to have the opposite effect and many women notice that they’re drinking more than they planned more often than they intended.
  • Trying to moderate or be a “normal” drinker is exhausting.
  • Drinking stops being an occasional, social activity and begins to be an emotional crutch.

I don’t want you to lose any more of Yourself or your time and energy in yet another empty bottle, and I really want you to know...

YOUR ARE NOT BROKEN, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT,

BUT YOUR FUTURE  IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

and I’m here to help you.

If I hadn’t reached out for help from a coach, I know I would still be struggling.   My final Day 1 was May 6th 2020 and I can honestly say, making that change has changed EVERYTHING.

The best word I can use to describe it is FREEDOM.

Women I’ve worked with tell me that once they decide to ditch the drink they:

  • Are more themselves than they’ve been in a long time.
  • Have more energy and self-confidence.
  • They believe in themselves and have new found courage to do things they've been putting off for too long.
  • They are more clear on what the next chapter of their life will be, because they are going to create it themselves!
  • They are able to quieten that inner voice that tries to keep them small.
  • The feel like they’ve been given a second chance at life.

I developed The Finding You Program to help you uncover those sometimes-unconscious limiting beliefs, recognise what or who gets in the way of you changing them, remove those obstacles, rediscover what you are truly passionate about and reclaim your energy, self-worth and self-confidence.
